An acceptable job function for telecommuting is one that can be performed at a remote site without compromising the quality of work or disrupting the productivity of an office. 6.3 A telework contract may remain in effect for the duration of employment in the position mentioned in the agreement, unless it is terminated in accordance with the procedures described elsewhere in this directive. A new agreement must be reached when an employee changes positions. It is the university of Texas at Austin`s policy to allow telework arrangements under this directive if it is in the best interest of the university and if it increases the employee`s productivity. Supervisors are free to approve or reject an employee`s request for telework based on work- or business-related criteria. The agreement shall contain the following information: 8.2 The operational requirements of the U.T. system. take precedence over telework contracts. A teleworker must, if necessary, give up teleworking in the office during a regularly scheduled telework day, but the person must be informed as much as possible. A supervisor can allow flexibility in scheduling specific days of the week for telecommuting and, week after week, give flexibility to meet changing needs. This period of remote work being unusual in its perseverance and long-term nature, the faculty members had to conclude a telework agreement for the faculty. The telework requirement applies to all faculties, including faculties with administrative responsibilities – department heads and university deans.

9.3 When the telework contract is terminated, the employee must immediately return to the U.T. system. all notes, data, reference materials, sketches, drawings, memoranda, reports, records, equipment, software, consumables and all other system assets owned or under the control of the employee. The purpose of this directive is to provide for the management of the University of Texas telework program. Telecommuting contracts were set to end Friday for university employees, but they were extended until Aug. 14. Restrictions on university-sponsored travel have been extended until October. 9.4 The U.T. system is not responsible for any costs, damages or losses related to the termination of the telework contract. Positions that may be considered for telework arrangements are those that: Employees may request telework, which may be terminated in writing with ten (10) business days` notice. It is recommended that supervisors decide on the termination request within ten (10) business days of the university. The University reserves the right to terminate the Contract with ten (10) business days` notice if the University determines, in its sole discretion, that the Telework Agreement is no longer in the best interest of the University.

The University also reserves the right to terminate without notice in the event of a breach of the University Directive, a breach of the terms of the Contract or in the event of a relevant amendment to the University Directive or the University Act. .
